Your Webby browser looks super, and has potential to be one of the best around, commercial or freeware. So thank you for your hard work on this app and for sharing it for all of us.

I've noticed two things you might be interested in.
1. CPU usage while the program is running is extremely high. My CPU is running at 411 MHz (using Anton Tomov's Pocket Hack Master), and one of the features it has is a CPU Load Monitor. Prior to opening Webby, the CPU is operating at about 0-2% utilization. Upon opening Webby, the CPU utilization jumps to 90% and stays there. In contrast, PIE only goes up to about 20% momentarily and then drops to 0% within seconds.

2. On exit, I'm getting an error that reads (and this would be so much easier if i could just attach the screen capture!) :)
Webby.exe
DirectoryNotFoundException
An error message cannot be displayed

containing it cannot be found

at System.IO.Directory.GetFiles()

If you need more info or to test, just email me back please.

Thank you.
Chris

The update to version 2.0d has cured the previous error message on closing the program. Thank you.

I've noticed two things I'd like to pass on to you as feedback on a potentially wonderful browser (maybe the best of all of them, in fact).

1. The setting to delete temporary files did not appear to be sticking. I checked the cache and found it still had files, went into the settings and checked to find the box cleared again...after I had set it. I went into the registry and changed it there so hopefully it'll stay set for me. But you probably would like to correct that permanently for others.

2. CPU usage is still extremely high. I've installed Webby on another PDA, an HP iPAQ hx2415 with an Intel processor. CPU usage is pegged out at 100 percent even with it running at 520 MHz.

Thank you,
Chris

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I have corrected the problem with the delete temporary files settings finally.

The cpu usage is more difficult. I haven't noticed a performance degradation on my device or any emulators I've tried before. The code itself doesn't do anything "busy" when the application is idle.

Have you noticed performance degradation, or is it just the tools that are telling you about the excessive cpu consumption? I am yet to install a program to measure this, but will at some point.

Regards
Julian

I've used SafeMode to reset in a clean environment with nothing running in the background. Even there, I'm noticing the degradation.

For the initial say 30 seconds, everything seems fine. After that, the CPU performance on any other program running goes down. For instance, if I try to open Total Commander from the Start Menu, it takes about 10 seconds for just the Start Menu to open, and then longer for the program itself to open.

If you have anything in particular you'd like me to check, just let me know.

Chris

I have released another version (2.0f) that restructures the program somewhat in order to overcome this problem.
In my testing cpu usage is greatly reduced.
I invite everyone to give this a try and let me know.
Remember you can check if you have the latest version using the "Check for Updates" link in the Options window.

Works great now. Thank you!

I just changed my default browser to Webby. Again, thank you!
